I recently created SUI wallets and wanted to connect one to Ledger which appeared to work. I had the “L” next to the address field. I was having trouble with one computer so I installed the SUI app on the chrome extension on another computer, just as I did the first computer. I imported the passphrase and used the same password.
Now the address where I have most of my funds does not show up on my list of addresses on either computer in the SUI wallet.
I do see on SuiVision the address that contains my funds, but can’t seem to get that address back into either wallet app.
I went to the Discord which was linked from the wallet “Support” field and have had people trying to call me on my cell phone and link to addresses which I am suspicious of and have not done. These came from Customersupport@Sui (I did not click on this link).
Please help in getting a known address imported back to my wallet.
It seems like you’ve successfully connected your Ledger device, but the address holding your funds isn’t showing up in your wallet. Based on my experience, here’s what might be happening:
Ledger derives multiple accounts
When you connect your Ledger to the Sui Wallet, the “Import accounts” screen displays several possible addresses. These addresses are derived from the same seed phrase, but they represent different accounts. You need to ensure you’re importing the correct account where your funds are stored
How to check the correct address
If you see your correct address on SuiVision, it should also appear in the “Import accounts” list when connecting your Ledger
Make sure you select the account that matches the address where your funds are located
If you’re using multiple computers, make sure you are connecting the same Ledger device and selecting the correct account
Clarification about Passphrase
Ledger devices generate a 24-word recovery phrase, which is used to secure your Ledger account. This phrase should never be manually imported into a wallet
On the other hand, Sui Wallet only supports importing a 12-word recovery phrase, which may be causing confusion. If you tried to import your Ledger’s 24-word phrase into Sui Wallet, that could be why you’re seeing a different address
Instead, you should connect your Ledger directly to Sui Wallet, as you’ve done, and select the correct account from the “Import accounts” screen
Confirm the address in another wallet
You can also try connecting your Ledger to another wallet like Suiet. Both wallets should show the same list of addresses derived from your Ledger, and you can import the correct one
And… avoid suspicious links
It’s good that you avoided interacting with any suspicious links. Stick with official support channels if you need further help.
Thank you; I will get back to this in a few days. I may respond back to you if ok. I had another person on a chat from what looked like an official Sui webpage, explaining that it was a mainnet issue.
This was a different party than the one I was originally suspicious of, but when he started asking for addresses, which I know are public, I was still uncomfortable. I was thinking maybe he was able to hack a wallet if I really wasn’t connected to the ledger, as I thought, so I left the chat.
There was an option to send the chat to my email, but after three attempts, it never arrived, and I did check the spam. I did copy the transcript from that conversation.
Thank you
To make it clear, my current situation is that on SuiVision the address with my funds correctly displays the 3 assets and funds. However; when I sign in to my Sui Wallet on Chrome extension and switch to the same address it shows $0 funds.
I am nervous about importing the seed phrase into the same wallet, would I be safer if I created a new wallet/address and try importing there?
If what you are trying to do is import the ledger’s seed phrase into the wallet, then you shouldn’t do that. You should connect your ledger by installing the Sui app on the ledger and then follow the instructions on Sui wallet and Ledger Live app on how to connect those two together.
And you cannot even export any sort of private key for your ledger account that is connected to Sui wallet, it’s not possible (it would defy the purpose of using a ledger).
Please make sure you are not using your ledger’s seed phrase anywhere online.
Thanks again, but no I am not trying to import my Ledger seed only to re-import the Sui wallet seed to see if I can get it straightened out. Would you recommend that I try that approach or rather create a new wallet and then try importing the Sui wallet seed that I already have?
Does this make sense to you; Using SuiVision the address with my funds correctly displays the 3 assets and funds. When I sign in to my Sui Wallet on Chrome extension and switch to the same address it shows $0 funds???
Hi again; I am still struggling. Would you look at this screenshot and help me understand something please? I still cannot see my funds in the SUI wallet on either account but I can view them on SuiVision “ONLY” if I copy the top address from either of these accounts. In other words the Oxbab50ab… which is the top address shown on either account does display my funds.
If I sign into the SUI wallet and then go to SuiVision and choose “Connect Wallet” then either of the "Current OR the other when I “Switch To” will show 0 on SuiVision. However; If I paste the Oxbab50ab… into the field “Search by Account” in SuiVision I see my funds. I tried creating a “Suiet” wallet with a new passphrase and then “Imported wallet” with the original “Sui” wallet seed phrase and one of the two addresses below populated along with the new Suiet wallet. However; it shows 0 balance as the Sui wallet does.
One thing I don’t understand is why are there 2 addresses for each account? One in BOLD and then another below it. The BOLD one is the same ID in each account.
First account has address 0x637d...f5d7 and its alias is 0xbab50abab7e621aa62..., and
Second account has address 0x26da...37d3 and its alias is again the same as the alias of the first account.
I don’t know how you ended up having the same alias over these two accounts, but avoid using addresses for aliases in general, as they may lead to accidental confusion. Use distinctive names that can easily point you to which address is for what.
A few takeaways here are:
When you click copy on an account in the Sui wallet, it copies the address, not the alias.
The addresses in bold in your case, are the aliases of your accounts.
